About Dave

At the age of 45, living and working in the sunny seaside resort of Blackpool, with a good job, a nice house, 2 cars and a camper-van, and all the toys… I resigned.

My aim to live a simpler adventurous life away from the job enforced routine lifestyle. To do something with my life whilst I still had the chance…low budget but free.

At Cape point, South Africa

Over the years, in  my holidays and between jobs, I have hitch hiked from the UK to Sydney across Europe and Asia; cycled  across France to the Mediterranean, up to the far North of  Scotland, across Wales, through Belgium , Luxembourg into Germany and along the Garden route of South Africa; climbed across the UK, Scotland, Wales and in the French Alps, Soloing Mont Blanc; stood on the rim of an Indonesian volcano; paddled an ancient sea kayak off the Welsh and Scottish coasts; competed in two mountain marathons; trekked the Annapurna and Langtang regions of Nepal; rode elephants on the Thai/Burmese border; walked the Welsh and Lake district 3000 footers; skied in  Italy, Spain and Norway and dived with great white sharks.

I am a level 1 Paddle Sport coach, hold a Summer Mountain Leader Certificate and have been teaching physics for the last twenty years.

I don’t know what the future holds for me but I want to start with a bit of a spin on my bike.
